Abbey Glancy - Prosthetics and Sculpture Artist

About Me

Film and television has always been my passion. Ever since I can remember I have always been creative within the media sector. From making my own short films and music videos from a young age, I always knew I wanted to be a part of the film and TV industry. I started off as a media student when I left school and achieved a diploma in creative media studies. But it was when I would do makeup for my classmates' short films is when I redecided my career choice. Being away from school and being able to express myself through makeup and through the makeup I would apply to actors for the short films made me fall in love with makeup and special effects. I realised my skills were more for creating the characters looks for a film rather than making the film myself. So I stayed at college for another year to achieve my diploma qualification for specialist hair and media makeup. I have now completed my Bachelor of Arts degree in specialist hair and media makeup, specialising in on set prosthetics and character creation.

Career So Far

My career in the makeup industry has all been voluntary work so far. With links into the media sector, I have done special effects for short films for film and media students for their university degrees. This has given me insight into on set special effects and making sure the looks arrive on time for filming. For beauty and editorial, I have done a few voluntary work for clients. I have done bridal work, making up the bride, maid of honour and some wedding Guests. I also have done makeup for guests attending the York Races.
